Vulcan is slowly emerging from its barbaric ways. The reformed Vulcans of Surak and the Vulcans of the old ways have had an uneasy truce for decades, but war has finally broken out. James Kirk and his family were captured and sold to a Vulcan when he was a child, and has grown up on Vulcan. He will fight along side of the reformed Vulcans to keep his freedom and to prevent becoming the slave of a sadistic Vulcan.

The Enterprise has been forced in space dock for repairs due to an attack. Spock is in sickbay recovering from severe injuries. The crew takes turns on shoreleave due to the unplanned stop to the nearby planet Troas...all except Kirk. McCoy practically orders him to go. A reluctant Kirk is trying to relax, but keeps being blindsided by star struck admirers and chased by paparazzi. He meets an alien who has technology that can change his appearance for a day. Kirk gets caught up in the pretense of being someone else. Then he meets a strangely exotic human, and is immediately attracted to him. But, he has also been struggling with his growing feelings for Spock, who is still recovering on the space station. Should he give in to temptation, and all while under the guise of someone else?   (Humor, romance, a touch of angst, and a first time)

Three days after Spock's aborted marriage to T'Pring, McCoy tries to get Spock to open up and admit his feelings for James Kirk.
