Beautiful. You do a great job explaining the gap between the end of season 3 and the first motion picture. Although there are no indications of any kind of regulation against romance among crew members in the original series, it feels realistic that they would have to make that hard choice.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for commenting, and for reading this. You're right, there's no such indication in canon, and if I remember right, this story was a direct response to a discussion thread where someone was commenting about how it would be interesting to see a conflict between their personal feelings for each other and the chain of command. Just a "what if," I think. Glad you liked it!

A very original take on the K/S relationship to tell it from the perspective of a stranger, Well done! You manage to make the man both creepy and touching. Of course one begins to wonder what Kirk and Spock are doing on that planet - stranded during a mission...?

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  Yes, you've guessed the background.  I originally started writing this story as the usual "Kirk and Spock are stranded on a planet when their shuttlecraft crashes" cliche story, but then I realized the only way I could tell the story the way I wanted to was to write it from the POV of the OMC.

Oh I love this story! Perhaps Spock is sweet-talking a bit more than I'd personally find in character for him, but the scenario is beautiful, touching, true and so well written. Bravo!

Beautiful! Everything's just right: the story, the characterisation, the sex... Your McCoy is perfect, like he stepped right out of the TV screen, but Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Uhura, I recognise them all. I could really her Kirk shout "I... need.. my pain!" (and bang his fist against the tabletop!)

I find hurt/comfort taken to such extremes a bit hard to swallow. I'm sure Kirk would forgive Spock, eventually, but not while still battered and bruised in Sickbay. I also doubt Spock would confess as easily, instead of confining himself to quarters and saving his confession for a court martial... It's basically well written though, and I found McCoy very much in character.
