Bio:

ST:TOS fan since early 70s (actually watched in 60s w/my father), writing fan-fic since early 80s, zine-published since 1981. My main focus is and always has been non-slash K&S (some of which has also been enjoyed by K/S fans), although I also write S/Ch and pre-TOS stories of Spock's childhood (he's my favorite character). Have been writing in some form or other since I was 6 years old and have a B.A. in English (although none of this has helped me get and hold a job). Fan-Q and Surak Award-nominated for various zine contributions (both fiction and art).

The term is "awww", as in much cuteness.  Which I like.  And kudos to Farf for good interaction with Uhura and Chekov, which I likely wouldn't have been able to pull off.  I love how Farf comes up with these wholly original plot ideas and makes them work, and I love the way she portrays Spock (and Kirk).  This story makes me want to eat corn pudding, which I've never managed to do (but am convinced I'd love it).

Summary:

Jim learns how Spock dealt with the prospect of losing him in the Tholian Web. Sort of silly.

I loved it, thought it was cute (to me, that's a *good* thing) and all TOO plausible. Methinks this "Max Brunner" person missed the whole point of the story, or he doesn't know anything about Spock.  The story wasn't *meant* to be "funny" (although I personally did find the image of tissues tossed all over Spock's quarters rather amusing), it was meant to show the depth of his grief and inability to really cope with it, which I thought it did very effectively. Who can really be 100% certain HOW Spock reacted once he was alone in his cabin *without* McCoy lurking about?  I'm willing to allow Farf a bit of leeway to exaggerate certain aspects to make a point without blowing it off as "implausible".  So good on her!  May she write long and prosper.

I have to point out that Kirk NEVER HAD a "ready room", something I mentioned to Farf when she first showed this story to me but which she couldn't change at that point (I think it was already on her site or something).

Other than that, I have only praise for this sweet/cute/original story that so accurately portrays Spock's and Kirk's feelings for each other and gets Spock's "nerdiness" right (though for some reason I tend not to think of him so much that way after STII, which this is obviously set after).  Loved the part where their hands touched--they finally got to do that without the glass in the way. :^D

Very moving, for being so short.  Hope you post more. ;^)

I didn't realize these "Bill of Rights" things were so short.  This one did make me giggle.
