Title: Chapter 1: You Are Such a Fool (Prologue)
While I think this is an interesting concept for a K/S story, I have to wonder if it really works in the scenario you’ve created. Abusive relationships, whether physical or emotional, are based on one thing – the power and control the abuser has over the person being abused. A big part of that power and control is isolating the abused from friends and family so he/she becomes dependent upon the abuser. It is a key controlling behavior. That being the case, there is no way an abuser would ever allow the abused to be out of his/her grasp for any significant length of time. So the scenario that Thomas would ever allow Spock to sign up for a deep space voyage where maintaining the type of control necessary to keep Spock under his thumb would be virtually impossible, is not a very realistic notion. Even if Thomas did, as you say, have eyes everywhere, the idea of not having any type of physical control over Spock for that length of time, actually for any length of time, would simply not be acceptable. There would be no way Spock would be allowed to set foot on that ship, on any ship, unless Thomas was coming along, as well. Otherwise, Spock wouldn’t be going anywhere as far as Thomas was concerned.
So as I said before, while the concept itself is interesting, the scenario you’ve outline thus far is simply not a very realistic one.
Author's Response:
While I appreciate your comment I have to disagree, you have not realised that this is hust the prolouge, I have not outlined how Spock managed to go into deep space, or other various factors involving the relationship. This will be explained until later chapters. In the end it will all play out and Spock's life with Thomas, and how he was treated will be laid out fully. Remember also that Thomas and Spock have been together for a long, long time, so the abuse isn't just physical but emotional also. And another point, I ended the prolouge with the following line:
"A year later, when they return for repairs, he realises he hasn't."
That indicates that there is going to be some important factor to be explained later. (Pretty much everything will be explained later as I have clearly mentioned). We also don't know that much of Thomas's character, as I have yet to fully flesh him out for you lovely people. I am glad that you find the concept interesting, adn also understand that you find the scenario outlined so far not realistic. As I have mentioned before, I haven't even chipped the surface of the iceberg that is Spock's life with Thomas. It will be different (this is afterall an AU).
