Nice to see another TH girl over here. :)

This was adorable; I look forward to seeing you attempt Spock (I like that you recognize he might be hard for you and are taking the time to work yourself into it).

Author's Response:

OMG! HI!  I saw "little muse" and I was like, "Huh, isn't there a Little Muse over at TH?" and LOW AND BEHOLD!  Hahaha.  Awesome.

I do have a quick story I wrote for a friend with Spock, but I didn't really take a lot of time on it.  I've got a lot of projects in the works, but eventually I'm wanting to get back to my WIP and write more Spock.  He's hard for me to write because he's logical and proper and very very VERY intelligent and he thinks linearly, and well.  I'm pretty smart but I'm not Spock-smart and so, I have to be really careful when I write him (or any other Vulcan).

Oops, I rambled.  Anyway, THANKS FOR READING! <3

I agree the novelization is sooo worth reading if you're looking for this stuff. According to it, it is indeed Jim's voice that calls him back, and is exactly what she is noticing when she reaches into Spock's mind. Among the several other things mentioned in other reviews. And stuff like Spock asking if McCoy could leave before they have that talk in the officer's lounge (which totally must mean he knows his and Jim's first talk will include inevitably very personal matters). And Kirk saying -- without any sort of segue or prompt, so it's implicit -- before Spock leaves that meeting that "this was painful for me too". I mean, COME ON. YAY FOR CANON.

Actually, I have a file of it; if you want it, just drop me a line.

I so rarely review (aside from writing, I'm a shameful lurker < _ < ), but this is excellent. There is nothing I appreciate more than realism in trying situations. Too many people want to get to the "good stuff" (a debatable term in the first place), whenever it just takes more. It's often bugged me that in this trope, Spock's monogamous nature wins out every time over his knowing Jim, reducing Kirk's complexities to the too-common lady's man caricature in the process. And more than that, it's always bugged me that this doesn't bug Kirk. Not to mention the professional aspects, which I also completely agree with you on (I love your Pike, btw). So, thank you.

Just wanted you to know that I love what you're doing here and anticipate updates.
