Summary:

AU set in mid-1880’s America, a university teacher finds himself the unwilling victim of a secret admirer, having to flee his home after things take a turn for the worst and his life is threatened. His unlikely retreat not only offers him the escape he needs, but also unwittingly delivers a formidable ranchman who, through his immeasurable good looks and obvious charm, somehow steers, quite unknowingly, into the teachers icy heart.

I won’t hear anything about how my history is ‘off’ =p as I have changed a few things to fit in with my story, like events, people in history etc.. You will just have to forgive me that it isn’t historically accurate - blame it on the AU. Just pretend, okay?

Enjoy =]

Oh I love this fic!! I'd like to point out all the things I liked, but honestly I'd just end up quoting the whole story. So I'll just say this: Spirk in the 19th century with creepy stalkers and psycho ungrateful idiots who end up drowning like they damn well deserve and two wonderful fools in love combined with great company including the most amazing horses is just perfect. perfect! I had so much fun reading this, thank you for writing and posting it! :)

Pilgrim of Eternity by iorekbyrnison Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 5]
Summary:

The adrenaline that coursed through his veins was delicious, painfully so in his twelve year old body. The thought of the cliff, of the brief moment of flight before the undeniable explosions of twisted metal and exhaust was exhilarating. Gripping the steering wheel tighter, Jim stomped his foot on the gas creating a new cloud of dirt and grime.

And moments before he tipped over the edge, moments before flight, Jim jumped out.

Safe.

Not ready yet.

But something within him had ignited.

**Originally supposed to a an 5 and 1, but it sort of ran away and grew into this when I wasn't looking.

wow wow wow amazing story. I really love your Kirk voice. The part where he almost killed himself with four hypos and didn't notice Bones coming in to celebrate his b-day was really great. As was the one where his mum came to visit him in the hospital and Spock ended up nerve pinching her. I see a pattern here, I guess I like to see Kirk suffer and somebody come help/save him. Probably because it's so special, seeing as he's not used to it. And I love how he thinks about his kids and loves them above all.
The part where Kodos raped him really shocked me, though. Didn't see that one coming. But I like how you wrote his time on Tarsus - not going into too much detail yet explaining more than enough to shock and disgust. Great job.
Thank you for posting this!

Author's Response:

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! I actually hadn't noticed that pattern, but I like it. :) Sorry it got a bit graphic, but I felt that it needed to be in the story to get the right balance you know? I feel that the kind of person Kirk inherently is (nu or TOS) would need a lot of pushing before he began thinking of suicide, so I had to make the scenes tragic and graphic enough to necessitate such a strong reaction. Thanks again!!

A Little Encouragement by Raven Knight Rated: Mature Content (Teen) starstarstarstarhalf-star [Reviews - 4]
Summary:

Sometimes people need just a little encouragement to come together.  A Valentine's Day party is the perfect event at which to make it happen.

I quite enjoyed reading this, thanks for posting! The part where Jim and Carol where talking and both McCoy and Spock got jealous was funny - especially considering that they were talking about Jim serenading Spock - which is kinda hilarious but also oh so sweet.
and Bones and Uhura raising their glasses to each other was great, it made me grin.

Author's Response:

Glad you liked it.  Originally, I was going to end it with our matchmakers toasting each other, but the McCoy/Carol thing wiggled its way into this, so there needed to be some closure with it, too.  Thank you for reviewing! ~ RK

Summary:

oooh my goodness I love this story so much!! Like srsly I can't even tell u how much, I just dig hurt/comfort stories so much and this one is so aaack I can't even asdfghjkl. *deep breath*
Ok. ok. so.. I love Kirk and Spock and just how much they love each other. All their tiny gestures and glances and smiles and ACK THE FEELS!!! Especially Jim is... I dunno, normally I'd get annoyed by that point by how much he's crying/hurting but I'm not because I'm just totally buying it. He's just in love, so in love, that it actually hurts him and it's just so beautiful and terrifying all at once aaaaahhh I can't... Spock's being so mean to him tho! I mean I know he doesn't intend to be and wants to protect him and stuff but... gah, I wish he was better at communicating with Jim, they could save both of them a lot of heartache. Oh but thank goodness for Uhura! She's so great. And Bones - aaack. I love Bones. Your Bones! How he's grumpy and angry and then so sweet and calling Jim sweet names aaack I just it's just u know aaaaack.
Okay this review makes no sense sorry I'm just so emotional and filled with as much love for this fic as Jim is for Spock. (or at least I'm a close second)
awww but poor Jim, feeling lonely and not knowing with whom to sit and throwing up and gosh the blood the bLOOD GOSH JIM DARLING PLEASE TELL BONES PLEASE I KNOW HE WON'T BE ABLE TO CURE U MAGICALLY (EVEN THO HE CAN PROBABLY CURE A RAINY DAY, BY GOLLY) BUT STILL AAACKKK!!!!
uh. anyway. thank you for writing and posting this and I reaaally can't wait for the next chapter!

PS: If I'm allowed to ask - is this going to have a happy end? Just so u know, if it doesn't, you'll destroy me. Destroy! No pressure tho. :)

Author's Response:

Thank you for your lovely, lovely review!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I swear, even though I'm writing it, I feel it all along with you guys. I just want them to be happy, but my muse rules the roost, I'm afraid!

PS: Just know that I very, very rarely write anything without a happy ending :)
