Whispering Words by Kerchan Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 32]
Summary:

AU: "Jim Kirk." Ayel stated, amazed that in his hands he was holding the baby form of a legend. "James T. Kirk." Nero breathed after him.

For this prompt at the st_xi_kink meme: Inspired by another prompt, Nero captures Winona's shuttle and raises Kirk as his own. At 22, Kirk is sent to Starfleet Academy as a spy. Because Nero knows that Jim is suppose to have an epic friendship with Spock, Kirk is tasked with pretending to be Spock's friend and then betraying him to Nero. But he grows attached to Spock and Bones and his Academy friends and along the way he finds out the truth about his parents, or his history with Spock from another universe from Spock Prime, or both. So, conflicting loyalties? Falling in love with a Vulcan he was brought up to hate? And then maybe Spock finds out Kirk was suppose to be a traitor and is heartbroken?

Summary: WOO HOO! THIS FIC IS FINISHED!

In the wake of The Enterprise Incident, Kirk and Spock are asked to undertake an even more dangerous mission: bringing down an arm of the Orion Syndicate. This mission requires them to go deeply undercover for an undetermined length of time, Jim as a slave trader, Spock as a slave. Only a few key higher-ups in the Federation are in on the plot. In order to get the entire galaxy to believe they're serious, Jim sells Spock into slavery and goes rogue as a slave runner with the core of his crew, who are all hunted as outlaws by the rest of the Federation.

Before they part, Spock establishes a link between his mind and Jim's, so at least they won't be alone in their own personal hells, and can coordinate together to bring down the Syndicate. Nevertheless, their new roles push them both to their limits. On their quest for personal and intergalactic freedom, the crew discovers just what they are capable of, and Kirk and Spock learn how much they mean to each other.

This was beautiful, and I truly believed this story and it very insightful to read how Spock's mind works and how he sees his own body, and how well he reads Jim.

Author's Response: thank you! I usually don't characterize him this way, and I think more of my headcanons have him exercising a lot more restraint, but this was a very fun challenge. I am so glad you enjoyed it.
