As a writer: I'm a relatively new K/S fan. I write because K/S offers me wonderful characters and room to play.

As a person: I'm female, a freshman in college, majoring in physics. This is a bit odd for me since my academic strength has always been English, and it also means that I laugh harder than most at some of the physics faux pas commited in TOS and the movies. But I'm happy with it.

An excellent read. I'm usually mildly amused by the whole "aliens made them do it" premise, but with V'Ger it's surprisingly believable. Considering how symbolically sexual the Decker/Ilia joining was in the movie, this fits right in. I really liked the character development, both Kirk and Spock and the Decker-Ilia-V'Ger entity. And the sex scene was... different, but in a way which both surprised me and intrigued me. I appreciated the fact that you put the m/m and m/f relationships on clear, even footing without even rippling the waters of the storyline.

I'm in the same boat as several of your reviewers, in that I was confused at first about what happened. But after quite a few (enjoyable) re-reads, I'm pretty sure I got it. Thanks for giving us a puzzlebox in every little bit of ambiguous dialog. I'm fascinated.

(Just one thing: might want to watch your spelling. The word "gerking" throws me off every time...)

I've been re-reading this story for weeks now, but never commented on it until I got an account. I think this is the most interesting take I've seen on Spock's conviction that Sex Is Bad. The only thing I wish is that someone would explain why T'Pring acted as she did. All in all, awesome piece, and very plausible in terms of Spock's emotions.

Wow. I've read a lot of your writing, Greywolf, but this is one of your finer erotica pieces. Picard's reactions keep the whole thing fresh and interesting. Q had good taste!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I had a lot of fun writing it.  It's pretty much the logical extension of what we saw in the ep, after all.  No bet that Mirror Kirk spent lots of time spying on Spock...

This really is wonderful. I think the part that gets me is the flawless integration of Kirk's space-awe with his need for Spock. All too often Kirk is painted as being obsessed with his command, when in actuality he is obsessed with his need to explore the unknown, because the unknown brings him wonders like nebulas and time-warps and Vulcans. :)

(Oh, and I'm a complete sucker for pieces in which Kirk gets tipped off to his own feelings by an inexplicable attraction to Vulcan culture. Which again works great in the context of your story.)

You know, before reading this I don't think I'd ever found a believable fic in which either Kirk or Spock ended up with a happy family--much less together. Heck, I usually shy away from stories in which they get married because of the outlandish cliches! But you managed to pull it off, clearly and with spot-on characterization. Kudos to you!

I really like the dynamic you set up here. Kirk's jealousy is both understandable and reprehensible, as is McCoy's reaction--that's the mark of good characterization. And I'm a big fan of seeing things from McCoy's perspective.

It'd be great if you'd write a sequel. I think it would be interesting to see how Spock reacts to both Kirk and McCoy once he learns what happened between them (for example, does he learn that Kirk hit McCoy?) and how Kirk deals with McCoy afterward.

That was downright incredible. Both of your characterizations are spot-on and nuanced. But what I really liked was the way that your background plot served its purpose without being forced or overdone--it was believable and it provided the perfect mechanism for the story.

I'm having a terrible debate with myself as to whether I like your Spock or your Kirk better, and then I intervene in my own argument and note how excellent a blood-spattered, ranting, good-hearted but short-sighted McCoy is, and decide that his cameo is in the running for Best Character, too.

In short: impressive.

Author's Response:

I'm happy the characterization seemed authentic. The ironic thing is, I never obsess as much over McCoy as I do over Kirk and Spock, yet later his characterization seems th most consistent. Funny that. ;)

Thanks very much for reading, I'm delighted you liked it. ;)
