I do like these sorts of how-was-your-day/slice-of-life stories where things are mellow as opposed to life or death. The Eleventh Hour was still serious but laced with the familiarity and humor that I associate with these two men. Welcome to the Archive.
Thank you so much! That's very kind. This was a lot of fun to write. I'm very excited to be here! xxx

I love your story.
It's a funny idea to let them talk about the firsth five year mission.
I could read more about this. ;-)
Great done. ;-)
Thank you! This scene is cut from a much longer WIP so there might end up being another version of it in the future! Thank you so much for taking the time to review, and for being so kind - I really appreciate it! xxx

This was wonderful! I loved the dialogue and the way Jim and Spock interacted. Thank you so much! -Cate
Oh thank you so much! I recognise your user name, but I'm not sure where from - the first thought that came into my head was 'oo she writes really good fic' so I'm going to explore your work on here as soon as I get the chance! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! xxxx

I am so excited that you found the KSArchive and shared this story with us. While I look at A03 I always start here because it is devoted to what I love. There are some great fics here that are not on A03. If you are ever looking for a rec just ask me.
Now about your wonderful story. The characters were absolutely perfect. I can absolutely imagine Kirk not wanting to feel like a historical relic and being uncomfortable with Spock in his dress Fleet uniform. And Spock understanding this and changing to his robe and taking the time to explain his day.
The moment when Spock realizes that Kirk was being his charming self, but actually uncomfortable was absolutely something I could picture happening. Loved this: "Jim was - uncomfortable. And not a little - Spock inteorrogated the feeling gently - sad." It says so much about Spock has grown too, that he did not dismiss his reaction, but investigated and then Spock to Jim about it.
I especially admire your dealing with Spock leaving to save the ship without speaking to Kirk. I can imagine Kirk would have a "kernel of anger" about it, as you stated. It really wasn't Spock's decision to make unilaterally. And he would have self-doubts about his ability to order Spock to do it. Equally plausible is Spock's faith in him.
I also enjoyed the amusing way they outed themselves. All in all I great story. I can't wait to read the longer one I also saw posted, but have to wait until the weekend to relax on the front porch and dig in.
P.S. Are you from the U.K. I notices the "s" in realise and "u" in humour. I'm Canadian We seem to do things have way, adding "u"s but using "z".
Oh my gosh, what a lovely review! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to write it - I really appreciate it! And I would absolutely LOVE some recs - if/when you have the time. That's very kind, thank you xxx
I do hope you enjoy the longer story too - please do let me know!
Haha, yes, guilty as charged for being from the UK! As usual, the Canadians do things the sensible way, lol! I love Canada - if I could ever persuade my other half to emigrate, I'd move there like a shot.
Thank you again for your lovely, thoughtful comment. Lia xxx

Welcome to the Archive! i liked both your posts but this one especially. The paramters of their relationship and the give and take between them is well done and believable to me. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
Thank you! That's very kind. Were you able to see all ten chapters of the other fic? I don't know whether it's all posted yet and I'm not sure how I tell! But thank you very much for taking the time to review, I really appreciate it xxx
