Such an emotional piece. Your words here are so beautiful. I forgot to mention it, I liked how you added their thoughts in one column and the other, a quote from the movie. It just fit perfectly.
Again, the inner thoughts of Kirk, how he understands the deep sadness of V'ger, trying to find the other...
Now, Jim and Spock have found theirs.
I was teary eyed reading this:
You are the star by which I plot my course, the light by which my path is lit.Never again shall I turn from you, my friend. Let us now turn, as one, and be made whole at last.
Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing your reactions and impressions - it is so affirming to know I hit the right note on some level with this. I wanted to capture the symmetry that both halves form when they are brought together. This movie may have had its flaws, but for me it remains a favorite because of all that is there "beneath the surface". I hope you will enjoy the remaining two sections as much or more than the first three.

Your words are poetry to my ears. I enjoyed this piece immensely. I can see how Spock was drawn to V'ger, wanting to know what pure logic is, realizing how lonely V'ger truly was, like himself. Spock had truly found his other half in Jim, but fought against it. Now, he realizes how foolish he was. I went to check that scene you mentioned. I never noticed that part, and he does mouth something. Heck, if you read the novelization, that instance, all he thinks about is Jim, so I wouldn't be surprised. Very well done.
