Had I read this in the zine I'd have gone crazy too!! Grim and depressing... until we reach the last bit. Kathy is so evil. :-D It took me a few readthroughs to understand exactly what happened in the first half though. At first I thought Spock had raped (physically) Jim while on Vulcan, and I was trying to understand if it was another pon farr or what. Also, since Jim seemed to already have some experience of the bond, they had to have been for some time before the whole thing and therefore I couldn't understand how at the end the two of them bonding now would prevent the whole dire scenario. It's only the third time I figured out that (I think) Spock brought Jim to Vulcan after realizing he had bonded them without Jim's explicit consent and brought him to Vulcan to have it undone and submit himself for punishment. Is that it? In any case, it shows how misunderstandings can have dire repercussions sometimes and how important it is to be clear and express our feelings. The "dream" twist isn't the most original, but I was so relieved it wasn't true that I accepted it readily :). Thanks for sharing!

A interesting idear how things could have gone wrong. The end is a relief, but some how strange, because the begin was so possible and real. A happy solution inside this 'dream' would have been interesting. But I like your story anyway.
