Spock thought he was complete before he met Jim, and now he can't help but question everything...Nope, I'm fine...really I am...NOT. Never undersestimate the power James Kirk has. Very well written poem. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for commenting! Your great response let me know I was able to say exactly what I intended. :-)

I am always saying that a real poem is so rare, that when I read one, saying that it is a real poem is the highest praise I can give. This is a real poem. Perfectly crafted, almost every word full of meaning, with a depth and honesty that cuts to the bone.
The only word that brought me up short was "profligate." Did you mean "wildly extravagant or wasteful" or "shamelessly immoral," the most common meanings of the word? Or did you mean some without such a negative moral loading, such as munificent, generous, open-handed, or even lavish?
But thank you for a haunting piece of work that will stay with me for a long time.
Thank you so much! I consider myself first and foremost a poet, secondly a prose writer, and I'm delighted that this comes across.
I did use "profligate" intentionally because I wanted a shade of negativity (which Spock, of course, would deny.) I wanted to hint that Spock is jealous because Kirk so willingly gives out his energy in such a wildly extravagant manner - that he gives so much of himself to everyone - that Spock resents it and wants a larger share just for himself. Which of course he has, but at this point he just can't see it.

This was beautiful.
The stirring feelings clashing within Spock are so evident in your poem.
I don't even know how to describe it.
Ugh, just love it!
Thanks so much for your comments - I'm glad you enjoyed it. :-)
