Wow, break my heart why don’t you. This was unbelievably sweet and almost unbearably sad. Wonderfully done!

Thanks so much!

What a wonderful story!  I love Spock Prime so damned much, and I love it that he both got to have a little Jim and help push Kirk and young Spock a bit closer together.

A beautifully poignant tale.

So…Kirk/Spock Prime. Not always my cup of tea, but it definitely works for me in this incredibly moving story. I reread it the other day and was blown away all over again by the spot-on characterizations and dialogue, which give the story such emotional depth. Jim so clearly has fallen in love with the younger Spock; but in that wonderfully artless way of his (and in the face of his first officer’s apparent reluctance), it’s equally clear that he can’t help being drawn to whom he recognizes as another version of the same beloved person.  I love that it’s Jim who initiates their sexual intimacy and that Spock tries to advise caution, and likewise that this emotionally mature Spock is willing to surrender to his own emotional needs even as he understands the limitations of what he and Jim can share. His longing for his own Kirk is a perfect counterpoint to Jim’s desire for the younger Spock. This tension makes their coming together so very poignant. When Jim tells him “I want you both,” it just breaks my heart.

Your portrait of the young Spock – protective, conflicted, not knowing quite what to do with his feelings for Jim – is beautifully understated. In fact, the entire story exemplifies the “show, don’t tell” writing model. The marvelous details of what each character does and says enable the reader to feel what they are feeling. The ending is lovely, hopeful yet with enough uncertainty to give the reader room to imagine how things might be resolved. I admire stories that are allowed to end this way…which is not to say that I wouldn’t love to know for sure what happens next!

I choked up reading your comments. I'm really honored, and I want to thank you very much for giving this story a chance despite the pairing. I'm so glad you found the ending hopeful. It's a melancholy story, but I felt that everyone was okay in the end, and I'm happy it worked for you. That you re-read this means so much to me. Thank you a million times over.

(Also, it was wonderful to meet you!)

Gah! You're killing me over here. What a great story. I would love to see more of this and how their relationship progresses with new and old spock

Thank you so much for reading! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it.

I am working on a sort-of sequel for the Fix It Story challenge, but it's basically an excuse to pull a deus ex machina and bring Jim Prime into the AOS universe. It won't really deal with much that was brought up in this, just function as an optional companion piece.
