Oh gawd... the worst possible time to ship him out to the arse end of nowhere for a massacre.
I really like the quickness of these stories - there is nothing unnecessary, you just get straight to the point without waffling but have all the salient bits and that is a skill! Referring back to what you were saying on the facebook group, these stories could be combined as chapters in one story rather than a series, if you chose to go that way about it. It doesn't really matter, it's the author's choice, but I think it would work that way too. Something to consider for your next set of stories! :D
Thank you so much for reading, and I appreciate the advice re: FB chatter.
First, I don't know where the story lines are going yet. These things are writing themselves at this point.
I'm pretty much at the mercy of my Muse. *kicking Muse, throwing rocks at it*

More sadness. Now, they will be farther apart. I know the bond thing goes beyond distance...but still. Why does Jim have to go....
Interesting, that you used Bajor...and that you mentioned the Cardassians.
Perfect title by the way....Now make a happier one....grrrrrrr
I did some research (thank you, Memory Alpha!) and the timeline almost fits, with a little tweaking. The Federation wasn't able to do anything until the very end of the Bajoran conflict, and I think that is because of the wormhole.
But you know damn good and well the Federation KNEW exactly what was going on, and yet stood by and did nothing.

Personally i would have told starfleet to go F--- themselves and resign. Hope the next chapter brings better news they belong together now and always.
Throughout history, the military has never given a damn about family.
Kirk is desperate for a distraction, he'll take anything.
