Summary: A sequel to TMI (Too Much Information) in which Jungle Kitty blatantly rips off an urban legend. When last we saw our heroes, they were on their way to Spock's quarters to get a tribble, unknowing that they were walking into an explosive pile-up on the Genre Cliche Highway. Another one that should be rated S for SQUICK.

It's almost two in the morning, and I get up for work in a few hours, but it couldn't stop reading. This was lovely. I adored T'Brita, how adventurous she was, and hope she does find happiness herself. The hospital scene about did me in. Jim's anguish was already apparent, but his desperation made me cry. i giggled when Spock got creative with healing trances. Going on my favorites list.

I loved this because it was told from a third party's POV, so even though we saw an incredibly romantic moment between captain and commander, it wasn't overly saccharine because McCoy kept us grounded. i really liked how you developed his voice. Would definitely red this again!

I understand why this is a classic: convenient bed sharing, mutual confusion, what-does-it-mean touching, and a happy ending. McCoy is, undoubtedly, damned pleased with himself. Loved this.

Author's Response:

Glad you liked.  I really did write this, as the title implies, to put the kibosh on the Hurt/Comfort Syndrome.  I chuckle to think of how direct K/S stories flourished after I first published this, and (yes!) the number of Hurt/Comfort stories fell off.  Of course, I can't take all the credit for that;  society's attitude toward same-sex also matured in the same time-frame.  Still, I'm happy to have done my bit in helping it along.

I was going to read the start of this and save it for after work, but I ended up reading the entire thing in one sitting. This is absolutely charming! I love this spin on the accidental bonding trope. I also liked that the bond didn't force immediate intimacy between them, but that it grew on its own. Absolutely satisfying read! Thank you so much for writing it.

Author's Response:

I'm really happy to hear you 'couldn't put it down' - that's a huge compliment! ♥ I love the accidental bonding trope and wanted to try something different - what if it wasn't all sweetness and light to begin with (I mean, how would anyone feel if they were forced to marry a co-worker of the wrong orientation to themselves!). I'm so glad you enjoyed it - thank you for leaving this wonderful feedback (and so sorry I didn't respond sooner). x

A dear friend recommended this to me, and I am so happy I read it. I really liked Barak and how you developed him through the story. He came across as sympathetic in the end. I especially liked how Barak described things which the reader understands, even though he didn't, like Jim slapping Spock out of his healing trance. This was very sad but quite lovely!
