You already know this, but I love the way you portrayed Kirk here - it's a nice portrayal of new!Kirk, that keeps the rough edges without making him out to be a total jerk. Tres magnifique!

Also, love the description of girl!Spock, as always. Makes me feel as if (s)he is standing right in front of me.

 

Which is not a bad sight to imagine, even if I don't swing that way myself.

Yeah, she did happen to be a very pretty Vulcan, haha.  And Kirk is getting the idea of what being Captain of the Enterprise actually does entail, so it's definitely a learning experience for him too. XDD

“That’s almost it, just sway the hips a little less…you know, unless you don’t mind looking like you’re going down a catwalk.” - I bet Kirk wouldn't mind watching Spock go down a catwalk in a sexy little designer number. I bet he wouldn't mind that at all. This is such a Kirk thing to say that it almost hurts.

I'm glad you liked it!  I could see Kirk just teasing Spock about all of these things, and when I was writing this scene, everything just came out, and it felt so right!  Kirk is such a tease sometimes and poor Spock has to be the butt of the joke sometimes.

 

And I so agree.  That was completely what was in Kirk's head when he said that! XDDDD

Woo, possesive!Kirk ftw.

Love the way that Spock turns into the badass cold-hearted woman so easily. I can actually see him (her) as a bounty hunter, totally, except for the whole "respect for life" thing.

The chess game does not need to be reviewed. It is just made of pure win all on its own.

I think Spock playing that character was totally awesome, cuz it's nice to see familiar characters being different sometimes, isn't it?  And making Spock a cold hearted bitch was really fun. XDDD

 

And Kirk and Spock playing chess is always win!  Somehow, when it's them, it just always turns out awesome! XDD

That was intense. I had a knot in my stomach the entire time, and it's not often that a piece of fanfiction can do that to me.

You really have a way with words, that you can tug at the heart strings and make the reader BE Jim for the moment.



Author's Response: Thank you, so glad you liked it - and yes, it was rather the point! I was so struck by the viewpoint of the dream fragment I could remember - i.e. being Jim, as you said - that I thought, hmmm, can I reproduce it on paper, make the reader feel it, too?

That was certainly a welcome bit of comedy within what would otherwise be an overwhelming amount of angst in this story, darling. This is just enough to keep the story from being depressing, without compromising the tone of the story.

And, of course, it was effing hilarious. Great job.

Okay, this is by far my favorite part of the story (but you already knew that). The way you describe Jim's thoughts and actions is wonderful, and it really portrays how bad he feels for all of this.

And, of course, Spock's so gentle and forgiving - the sap is an big bucket of emotion no matter what universe we put him in, eh? ^^

Can't wait for the next part~

I know!! This part of the story is soooo sweet, because you get to see just how devoted Spock really is to Jim, having been through all of this and still loving him as deeply as ever.  And Jim finally learning his lesson and owning up to his mistakes was also good to show too, hehe.
