Hello all. my real (but incomplete) name is Raelynn Knight. i'm 15, i live in a small town in Florida that's overrun by nudists and rednecks.

I'm smart, i'm weird, i'm obsessive, i'm vegan, i'm pansexual, i play guitar and, sometimes, i write.

Normally i read and write bandslash almost exclusively but Star Trek is one of my few exceptions. Lastly, i'm better at catching others' mistakes than catching my own. from that sentence draw two things: i'm a pretty okay beta (and feel free to hit me up, even if we're strangers), but most of my work is unedited, so don't use it as a benchmark for my grammatical prowess.

On another note, i'm in the International Baccalaureate program (think AP on crack), so "free time" is not a concept i'm familiar with. if i don't update for a while, it's not that i've lost interest, it's that homework is kicking my ass.

David was the father, correct?

Non cannon but yes, TWOK deleted scene/scripted but unplayed  put them together with Kirk at end. It was changed to just david. Its one of those loose ends they left hanging in mid air.

So I normally don't review anything, I prefer to lurk, but I have to say that I absolutely love this. I'm majorly in love with spoiled!Jim and wooing!Spock and I've always kind of loved the idea of arranged marriages turning out to be, like, absolute love. And I think if I use the word "love" any more times in this review the word might be banned for overuse. But yeah, i'm kind of in love with this

Author's Response: Oh I'm so glad I could draw you out of the shadows! I have to tell you I was really nervous about this, being my first fanfic ever. I didn't think many people would like it, so your review really means a lot to me! Thanks so much for reading. Next chapter will be up soon.

First of all: I feel for your computer situation. I've been working off of my iPad for a while now and it's frustrating, I can't imagine working with an iPod.

I though the amount of emotion displayed was perfectly fine, his mate is in danger, that instinct should trump even Surak.
I did however feel that this chapter felt a bit rushed towards the end. Still amazing though, keep it up!

Author's Response: Thanks a bunch, dear. That screen is so tiny x.x. I'm glad I have someone who understands. Making Spock combat his emotions, while at the same time feeling them and being confused, seems to be working out for me. I felt the same way. My parents would've been home soon though and I didn't want to keep anyone waiting any longer. I'll try and put a little more thought and effort into the next one. Thanks for your thoughts!

I always laughed at the part where Scotty explains why he started the fight and Kirk looked so offended. So I wrote what I think should have happened to make Jim feel better. Of course, the tribbles will ruin all that.

I will be writing a sequel to this. XD

So I'm crying in the best way right now, this is absolutely moving, I love it so much. And I also love the first quote for this chapter because it's so true.
Jim's anger in this chapter reminded me, for some reason, about an AFI fic I read years ago where Davey's dying and he's so angry at the world.
I am so in love with your Spock, he has just the right amount of caring and compassion to be supportive, without being too out of character.

This chapter absolutely broke my heart. I can't imagine anything worse than having to watch your mother like that. The singer in my band had brain cancer twice before the age of sixteen (thankfully operable and leaving her with full mental functionality after the surgeries both times) I can't even think about what I'd do if it relapsed and she was like this. I can't even imagine what Jim's going through, I lost my mother in October, but it was a car accident. I can't even imagine having to watch her die slowly like that.
On a lighter note: I love the end of the chapter hardcore, and the bit about him lighting e gym on fire made me think of Buffy, which made me imagine Jim fighting vampires in a miniskirt, which was hilarious.
I absolutely love this fix.

The Courtship of Spock's Father by CMM Rated: Mature Content (Teen) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 199]
Summary:

NOW DONE!!!!

This is in response to Wingstar102's Jim and Spock Matchmakers challenge:

So, Jim and Spock are newly bonded and stupidly in love. Crew is happy and content, missions are going well and life is generally good even with the bumps. After picking up the Ambassador Sarek from the new Vulcan colony for a long trip to treaty talks, Spock notices Sarek is starting to come apart at the seams and, because of Amanda's death, Sarek is refusing to take another bondmate out of the fear that the next one would die as Amanda did. He feels he can not take that happening. So, Spock brings the problem to Jim.

Jim, on the other hand, has seen his perpetually grumpy and unhappy CMO eyeballing Sarek. Problem is that Bones refuses to admit that he's attracted to males for a reason of the author's choice, and won't take a chance.

So, Jim convinces Spock that hooking up Sarek and Bones is a good idea.

Looking for:

- Spying Jim and Spock

- Crew gets on board to help

- Spock showing off how good having a male bondmate is

- Jim giving details to Bones about how fun having a bondmate is

- Sex pretty please

- Devious and sneaky Spock Prime helping Jim and Spock.

I don't know about this; I may have finally bitten off more than I can chew, but we'll see. This will be multi-chapter but not as long as some of my recent works. it will also be lighter in theme, a break from the other two long sagas I'm in the middle of. Plot suggestions will be MOST welcome...

So I was initially a bit hesitant to read this, I'll be honest. Probably 1) because I'd been following CFT and I was sort of in love with the whole Bones/Sybok thing, and 2) sarek's old.
But I have to say, I absolutely love love love this. It's funny and entertaining with just the right amount of angst to complement the humor.
And surreptitious-matchmaker!Jim is the most hilarious thing ever, you do a good job of showing how smart he is without actually saying "look how smart he is"
And I love spock's reaction SO much. It reminds me of that one movie where the guy's gym coach who picked on him in middle school marries his mom.
I spent all day watching a bunch of sic-fi (Doctor Who, old Torchwood, the Hitchhiker's guide, assorted Star Trek serieses, heroes...) waiting for episode three of Torchwood: Miracle Day (which was AMAZING) to air and this was the perfect end to a great day of geeky, gay nerdiness.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Sarek's not that old, only about 70, which is really about 35 in human years.

I love Torchwood too, and all Dcotor Who except Matt Smith (I just can't warm to him).

So I was originally hesitant, as I often am, to read this fic because i've seen so many incarnations of juvie!fics (not in this fandom, but I read a lot of bandslash and it's really popular there) and I wasn't really interested in this one.
However, as I often am, I am glad I did read this because I absolutely love it.

The intellectual discussion is refreshing an impressive. And while I've always been more of a physics and sociology kind of girl, i find myself enjoying philosophy for the first time (before this, I always found it sort of pointless because, for all the debating, there will never be an answer to the most important questions)
I also love the dynamic, ever-evolving relationship between Kirk and Spock as well as kirk's interaction with the rest of the group.
Your portrayal of the dystopic society is intensely fascinating, especially as seen from the perspective of "troubled" youth. From the crumbling propaganda in the beginning, to Dr. Noel's attempts at, for lack of a better word, brainwashing, and the brief discussion of politics, the outside world that we only get a peek at is accurately vast and complex, as it should be.
I always felt that the near-utopic, ideal world Trek is set in is kind of a far-fetched idea and you've done wonders with the more likely postsible-future

However, I would like to point out: intellectuals can listen to punk too, I would consider myself a burgeoning intellectual and I happen to love punk rock

Author's Response: Aww, I'm glad you gave it a try! Thank you :) My understanding of physics is pretty shoddy, so feel free to to correct me if you see any mistakes;) I'm glad the philosophy rants weren't too random. I tried to keep my nerdiness on minimum, but I needed the Birth of Tragedy thing to to foreshadow other stuff. I will say nothing of philosophy here except that philosophy is first and foremost a study based in logic (even when it debates things like the just state and/or the principles of jurisprudence, which are human constructs, as opposed to philosophy of math and science) It actually always kinda bugs me about Star Trek that they don't seem to realize logic is a science/techne/subject matter (like geometry) and treat it as an opposite of emotion...but I know philosophy is not everybody's cup of tea, so I'm glad that you didn't just skip over those parts in boredom :) Yeah,I know what you mean about the Trek world. As much as I love the whimsical, optimistic message of Star Trek, it almost seems TOO happy, you know? It's like I'm watching and my brain is going..."Nobody should be this happy and perfect all the time, there must be something else going on here." I LOVE punk rock music. I love everything from the old school stuff like the Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Jam, The Buzzcocks and all those 77 bands to the California punk of the 80's (Bad Religion and Black Flag FTW!)all the way to what few underground, obscure bands are around now (Black Lips, Wet Dreams, etc.) My comment was NOT supposed to be a dig at punk but a praise of subversive political philosophy, from someone who loves both. Thank you for commenting so that I could clarify that. Thank you so much for reading and your long, well-thought out review. I hope the fic does not disappoint and constructive crit is always welcome :)

Amazing still!
I know I mentioned this before, but I LOVE your dystopia.
I also love your Bones because I think that, in that situation, that is exactly how he would react. Your characterization (and not just on him) is absolutely perfect.
I'm hesitant to offer my services as a beta because, right now, I have a crapload of summer homework to do and once i'm done with that I will be subjected to the torture known as IB and have the crapload of work it requires forced upon me. If time isn't a concern, I'd be willing to beta for you starting after this month.
Great work, keep it up!

Author's Response: Thanks! I always worry about characterization in AUs, because you want the characters to be the same people, but the situation is so different you have to gage how they'd react. Bones, I think, would change the least out of all of them because he's the oldest and in the most similar situation to his canon one, however. I'm glad it came off well to you:) I might take you up on that! I just finished summer college classes and I get one week before fall classes start up, so between school and my social life, it might be awhile before Part II starts coming up. But even if you don't want to beta, totally bounce off ideas about what you want to see, things which trouble you that you want changed, whatever. I love hearing others' ideas.

The Vulcan Who Fell to Earth by CMM Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 251]
Summary:

All done!

This is in answer Skutch's An Alien on Earth challenge, which goes like this:

In the 21st century when Earth people are not yet aware of life on other planets, a Vulcan who was sent to study Earth is forced to land because his ship is damaged. He speaks English because Vulcan has been studying Earth for quite some time now. The ship is damaged beyond repair so he manages to destroy it completely (wouldn't want people finding alien spaceships lying around) before he faints. The Vulcan is found by a 18 year old boy who takes him to his apartment (have fun coming up with how he manages to do that). The Vulcan wakes up soon and the boy wants to take a look at his wounds. He is too weak to resist and he fails to push the boy away before he removes his shirt and sees wounds covered with green blood.

I don't want him to accept the fact that the man is an alien too quickly, after all it really would be quite shocking, so please take your time with the story. Feel free to continue any way you think would be best, perhaps change the beginning of the story too, if you'd like.
I'd like to see a strange sort of friendship first evolve slowly, James trying to teach Spock about his culture, Spock having a very hard time understanding certain concepts, Spock finding himself telling James things he should not be telling a human, protecting him from people who cause him harm, etc.

This will probably be a very long fic, and I'm not sure where it's going or who else I'm going to bring in, but....

A couple of points for the sake of clarity:

1. Spock's full Vulcan, not a half-breed (This is AU; I can do tht).

2. Spock does have emotions. His people are strong and stoic, but not particularly repressed. So he may actually smile once in awhile.

I absolutely love this, Spock's panicky awkwardness with human culture is adorable and hilarious. Spock being "from Fiji" sort of reminds me of the part in Little Nicky when he says he's from "the deep south" and everyone just sort of nods even though it doesn't make sense.
Great (as always) so far

Author's Response:
