Title: Chapter 1: none
Wow! I've been waiting for "school" (work) to let out for New Year's long weekend to re-read the first story of yours I read and, oc, its brethren from the Series section.
Always amazing what one picks up on the second (etc..) reading, that the first time registered less deeply--like the wire description, which for me has a definite kubricky edge immediately this time.
The sadness, also is thicker and heavier; and the anger, more acid.
Naturally it may be, in part or whole, the Greywolf Fine Wine effect....
I had also overlooked your reference to UKJess's wonderful story--remedied that!
Ah...*is* there a 4th story?somewhere?
Author's Response:
Awww... you givez me da nicest shugah!! This story has always been one of my own favourites; it hit my brain like a lightnigh flash, about the first 4 pages or so, and I was off and running!
There *is* a lot of sadness and anger in this timeline, and no magical healing of either -- but then, that's how it is IRL, too. Fine wine though, eh? The one is most flattered, indeed! And yeah, "Beside the Wells" is the best treatment of the "slavery between the boys" trope I've seen. I love reading the others too -- but Jess' story has *teeth*.
There will be a fourth story, but it is still being built by the little guys in the back of my head. My Muse is a gorgeous, slinky, sinfully tasty lad, but he's a bad habit of vanishing when I'd really rather he didn't... ;-)> But it *will* get posted one of these days!
TL;DR: life is kind of busy and authentic, most inconvenient for us writers!!
(puts his paws in his sleeves and bows) and last but not least, Happy New Year, y/y?
