Old enough to no better and don't care. Loved Star Trek since watching the very first episode of the original series. Adoration of Kirk and Spock has never waned. Trek Lives and it always will. Love SF, Fantasy, Historical Romances. Reading, art, writing the occasional fanfic (mostly for myself) Horses, cats dogs, snakes and dragons are my fav animals. I like Elves, Vampires and Werewolves too. Laurell Hamilton, JR Ward Charlaine Harris are just three of the hundreds of authors that have entertained me over the years. I will shut up now.

A marvelous emotional read. I could not leave it, so I read into the night and following morning to complete it. The story just magnifies the indomitable will to survive and make right that personifies James T Kirk and Spock, the First Officer of the Enterprise.

Their first best destiny is the limitless reaches at their hand.  This story breaks the heart as you see them struggle to return from such devastation to the stars that will always be their home.

This is a harrowing tale of hope lost and found and joy rising against the odds.

No one should pass this series by. It would be illogical.

If this one had something other than obsessive lust for Kirk I wonder how different their contact could have been? What could he have learned?

There could have been a mini revolution of one, and he would have been left with a mission of some compassion for others and not nights of useless dreams about possession unfullfilled.

The Warrior culture could be described as brutal and archaic, yet one must look beyond to see the compassion and devotion they have for the welfare of their people. They are defined by that devotion and loyalty and supported by that dedication. Their children may know danger and sadness, but they also know they are loved. They do not deny their way is passing but do not allow that to lessen their vigilance. Knowing the forces that shaped them, you cannot but respect. I appreciate Kirk, for being the outlet for all that IDIC stands for, accepting and supporting out of respect for a member of that culture he as come to know. His willingness to experience lead him to his hearts desire.

No way to come together across the canyon of culture, of being hardwired to see the universe in such different ways. It wasn't unexpected however I remain saddened, holding out for some miracle against the odds.

The society was a desperate attempt to eliminate violence among themselves, but there was still rebels, hoping for something more fulfilling, and violence heaped on the helpless in the name of peace.

Really a thought provoking tale.

I found it most interesting to have this from Spock's point of view. I found his convoluted and, yes, rambling thoughts of the merits and fantasies of his Captain quite fascinating.

Kudos to the author for the perspective. Definitely their first time was different than I usually find. Spock is so literal and yet it is not at all a clinical description. For instance:

"In that unfinished imagining, he had wanted to run his hands over this yielding masculine roundness, where he wanted to put his cock, to take his pleasure and ride on his captain's body, feeling Jim move beneath him."

I found that statement alone incredible sexy. It would have been ridiculous coming out of anyone elses mouth.   So thank you Jenna

A most enjoyable experience. I am happy to find Kirk did not lose all of the new talents the 'innocent' Kirk obtained. The landscapes of the mind were beautifully described and the world wonderous from Jim's viewpoint. I shared everyone's pain at the callous, narrow focused ruthlessness of Captain Kirk.

Particulary gratified that McCoy was able to focus as much as he did on Spock's emotional wellbeing. I think it would have been a total disaster if Kirk and Spock had to traverse that emotional mindfield alone.

The space battle was very well done. I actually feared the loss of the Endeavor was unavoidable. It was an very exciting and anxiety wracked event.

I will admit to thinking I would miss such a time as was spent on Alpha Centuri. Communing in such a way with the energy around us would have been an unforgettable experience.

It is confusing what Hanek'kan hoped to achieve. Did he want them to move past fear to a union or did he hope to break them apart before they ever joined? A mystery to go unresolved, as an answer may make this tale less than it is. We always have hope love will win out over all obstacles. I do perfer happy endings.

I avoided most of the early k/s stories for the simple reason I could not find Kirk and Spock in any of them. I was quite happy to find their characters in Desert Heat. I could 'hear' Kirk's voice so clearly even as he found himself doing the unimaginable.  The author conveyed his anger, resentment and loyalty so very clearly and his understanding of what this could mean for the future of their friendship. Very well done.

Wading through Spock's almost dry observations regarding Jim's attractiveness and needs at the time of certain events entertained me. Any excuse to apply logic heh Spock? When in actuality you found all that you mind body and soul needed embodied in this human. I'm glad he had the sense to catch himself and not allow that logic to get in the way. The idea that he was enslaved at the end was really cute.

I did want to know what the heck the whold drugging him in the first place was all about.
