It's funny, because I was actually a K/S-er long before I became a Trekkie. One year, The Voyage Home was the Christmas Day movie and my family were watching it, and I had to as well (because there was only one TV). I had absolutely no idea what was going on plotwise, but I vividly remember being struck by those two guys who were obviously meant for each other. As I was about 6 years old at the time, I only thought about it in general terms, and it wasn't till much later that I discovered the wonderful world of fanfiction (via Thyla.com) and it was that which prompted me to borrow my mum's TOS videos and watch them. Hurrah for those! Then I discovered the explicit stuff and it's been downhill since then...
Inspired by Tydomin's spanking bubblebutt fic, I decided to give you my version.
First off, I'm very flattered that I inspired you! Although in truth Pamdizzle and TLara can take the credit for the idea, and not me!

This was supposed to be part of a larger story but I cut it out because it messed with the flow. I didn't want to delete it, so cleaned it up a bit to post it on its own. I like to think of it as stolen moment between our captain and first officer.

Oh wow. You've made me tear up! This is so lovely :) It is really interesting to read about things more from McCoy's perspective - this is something not really touched on in as much detail very often as you have here. I particularly liked the intensely vulnerable sides of McCoy and Spock, and their connection, which is intriguing and also very moving. And, I also like the way that you have an understanding growning between Kirk and Sarek - I think they have a lot in common, in a way.

Strangely enough, getting locked in a closet in a transporter room isn't one of the recommended steps that a young officer needs to take in order to get a promotion in Starfleet. [Reviews - 8] Serving on the Enterprise under James T. Kirk is an awful lot like riding an express elevator to Hell, going down. Nothing ever seems to go quite according to plan. There's canceled shore leave to cope with, crazy bosses to work with, religious fanatics to outwit, Klingons to battle, and a transporter system that refuses to work no matter how hard you stroke its subroutines. Fortunately the hometown hero of Boring, Oregon can handle anything that the universe throws his way. He is, after all, Mr. Adventure...

This is an AU of sorts about death. What if Spock died, not on the Enterprise, but in Sick Bay after an away mission? This is quite sad. Don't read if major character death is an issue.
Hmm. This is interesting. It's strange, because sometimes Spock seems to fight so hard to stay alive, yet it seems that it could be all to easy for him just to give up and surrender to the abyss. Could Jim have saved him? Perhaps - some people truly are living in another realm even while they still walk the Earth, and when they die they go somewhere that the rest of us can never really comprehend. I see this in his character all the time, but maybe when there's a Jim there to pull him back from the brink it makes it better just for long enough... Not this time though :(
I think we all walk close to the abyss and no one should count on another to pull them out. Jim's responsibility was not to save Spock but to help Spock save himself. Also, I have to point out we don't really know if Spock is actually in the Nexus, it could be Jim's mind. Brrr, it just got cold in here! Thank you for your review, as always!
