There have been several excellent stories here involving Kirk helping Spock overcome various medical conditions (e.g., agoraphobia, stuttering) that interfere with his ability to function and live a normal life. I would like to see a story that reverses the roles. My inspiration for this story is the play/movie The Miracle Worker, the story of Helen Keller and her teacher/friend/? Anne Sullivan.

I can envision two possible settings for such a story. The first would be a completely imaginary AU. The second would be an AU based on the Abrams STXI universe. For the former, Kirk's difficulties could have any basis you can come up with, either induced (abuse, trauma, illness, etc.) or genetic. Likewise, Spock's profession/situation and reason for interacting with Kirk is up to your creativity.

For the Abrams-based AU, I envision Kirk's condition resulting from either abuse (step-father, foster homes, orphanages, etc.) or trauma (Tarsus IV or ?). His condition could consist of PTSD-induced withdrawl and/or flashbacks, catatonia, “hysterical” blindness or deafness, or any other condition you can think of that would prevent him from communicating and otherwise interacting with other people.

How Spock comes to meet Kirk and try to help him is also up to you. I would prefer that Nero not destroy Vulcan (perhaps due to mutual destruction with the Kelvin), leaving Amanda available to be part of the story. Spock Prime could show up at some time after Nero, perhaps to discover Kirk's situation and “arrange” for this Kirk to meet his Spock.

Please don't try to shoehorn all of the bridge crew into the story, especially in the original AU. I could accept McCoy's appearance because of his medical background, and some of the others if it makes sense in the story, but none of this having Sulu be Spock's chauffeur, etc.

I love long stories, so please take you time telling this one. Sex is fine, but it is not the main reason for this story. It's about the relationship!
