I feel Kirk/Spock is a coat hanger on which you have hung your own interests and written here a story around your own interests rather than a story arising naturally from Kirk/Spock. It is a nice story but you could have chosen any coat hanger I feel. There is nothing here that makes it arise naturally from the canon. It becomes, therefore "something and nothing". It is a frippery, a moment of self-indulgence by the writer; it is irrelevant to Kirk/Spock. It adds nothing to K/S.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your opinion. It makes no difference to me, but I hope it makes you feel better. Move on. Move on.

Thanks for writing and the message that preceded it.   I think particularly in these times we do need reminding that we should be supporting diversity.   It's strange but earlier today I found myself mentally composing a letter, that I have no where to send, regarding why I fell in love with Star Trek TOS.    It boiled down to the way Kirk strove to include (not exclude) Spock.  I have always felt a bit of an outsider and longed to feel that acceptance.   Your story today was all about love and acceptance.   So I truly enjoyed it.

Author's Response:

Thank you xxx genuinely xx I identify with all you've said; including the bit about mentally cmposing letters and commentaries!
