Wow, what a place to leave us! Cruel!! Great story. I am really enjoying it so far and your characterizations. I like the fact that Jim is so stoic in regards to his feelings towards Spock. He isn't crying in his room or starving himself, like so many stories portray him. He is a starship captain after all. He is strong and makes the best of the situation. Thank you for that! Can't wait for the next chapter to see Jim's reaction. Is he going to get to rub it in Uhura's face? Lol
Thank you so much!! I'm really happy you've enjoyed it so far and that you agree with my portrayal of the characters! I appreciate those kinds of things a lot, so thanks for letting me know! Hopefully you'll enjoy the next (and last chapter) as well :D

This is a promising beginning, but one thing confuses me. If Jim has been in love with Spock for a really long time, why did he not spend much time with him while they were on Yorktown? The first half of the story sounded as if Kirk drifted apart from Spock because he didn't care enough about him to make time to get together, yet later you say that Kirk's been crazy for Spock for years.
Ah, thank you for reading and reviewing! Well, as I saw it when I wrote it, Jim can keep himself in check when it comes to his feelings and he knows how to distinguish behaviour, so he knows how to be a friend and show nothing more than friendship. So when their conflicting schedules on Yorktown also show up in the equation (it's not like they didn't try--it's just that timing wasn't on their side), apart from their communication issues, as shown in the movie, the thing blows out of proportions. Jim's a professional. He wouldnt try to make Spock spend time with him just because he has a crush on the Vulcan, but because they're colleagues and friends. And if it sounded to you like he didn't care enough, it wasn't my intention, and you're the first one to point that out to me. A certain reluctance might be there, because, in spite of his brilliance, Jim is also insecure, and he wouldn't keep on trying if he believes that Spock is distant. Which he is. Anyway, it will make more sense later in the story. Hope you'll stick with me till the end! :D Thank you again!!
