This is definitely one of the stories that linger in the reader's mind and heart. I love the way you work on Spock's hightened perception of his surroundings through all the other senses while he is blind. His interaction with Jim is all the more intense for the lack of sight. And I absolutely adore the way you show how loving and feeling treasured puts everything in a new light. They are still officers in the midst of a crisis, and they do everything they can to do their best, but there is a background of sparkling light to all they do, heaviness, pain and exhaustion tempered by the wonder of belonging to the beloved. Midst beautiful story, thank you so much for sharing.

Author's Response:

*puts his paws in his sleeves and bows*  you are so kind!!  I must admit this story is one of my own favourites.  to hear it praised so is a great boon indeed!!

when I was a wee cub my sight got worse every year, I thought I'd end up blind.  never forgot that feeling.  and yes -- belonging to the beloved.  arigato gozaimasu!

Don't know if you're aware, but I tend to read all of an author's stories once I find one I like even if I don't think to review each one. I really need to be better about that. As I was rereading this story, I felt the need to thank you for writing it. It perfectly called to mind the softhearted, gentle soul behind the rigid Vulcan controls that sparked my "fascination" with Star Trek to begin with. You have a rare talent and I, for one, appreciate it.

Author's Response:

Why thank you kindly!  it's one of me own favourites as well, so yay!  *grins*

I feel like I've read this a much longer time ago than 2008, more like 2004, along with quite a few other fics I've found again here. That would make it one of the first K/S stories I've ever read.

I loved it then and I still do. Beautiful, erotic without sounding dirty, well written, in character, and intriguing. I will be coming back to this one.

Wonderful!! I was very happy to find this online after reading about it on Fanlore, in an article on a zine I was interested in. I'd always thought that "Operation: Annihilate!" was a particularly sweet episode and was excited to find that someone had expanded on the blindness theme -- very well done!

Author's Response:

wow, that is so cool!!  it's always been one of my own favourite eps, bat-science about stars notwithstanding.  the story always seemed like they left a bunch of important bits out -- so I filled 'em in!!

Glad you liked it, glad to know it got a rec over there, tres cool!!

Wonderful story that goes straight into my favorites.I have to say I always felt there was so much more to this episode than what was actually shown and your story is the perfect continuation.I think in a while my mind will mix this story with that episode and refuse to accept otherwise...wait...that has already been done so...!

Author's Response:

sweeeet!  glad ye liked it -- it's always been a favourite episode, just about my own favourite story of mine, so, yeah.  *grin*  thanks!!

I know that in a one hour show, GR and company did the best that they could, but it was wonderful to be able to read what would definitely be considered the extended cut with a little something extra!  Thank you for fulfilling the need to finish this story.

Author's Response:

thee is most welcome; this has always been a favourite episode, and I *had* to fix the glitches!

Well, here's the fawning fan girl again, but it must be said; this is ANOTHER excellent story. Nothing breaks down Kirk's facade faster than the prospect of losing his favorite Vulcan.

Author's Response:

Yep, that's it!  Glad ye liked it, lass -- twas a great deal of work to write but it wouldn't leave me be till it was done.

I just watched this episode last night on DVD. I wanted to read a follow up story so I googled and found your story.

I really think your story did an excellent job in following up with Spock's struggle with being blind and afraid of his dreams.

I liked Jim and Spock's growing relationship. Jim gave Spock space when he needed it and comfort.

I'm also glad you didn't stray from the story and give McCoy the ability to instantly heal Spock.

Nice job.

Author's Response:

Awww... thankee, sai, for gi'zin' me shugar ;-)>  This has always been one of my favourite eps, despite the glaring physics idiocies, and I had way too much fun writing it, for such a dark story.  Honoured to be of service, this one is.

I'd love it if they did this one for the next movie!! (ep I mean -- they'd no' be usin' a script by the likes of me!)

Actually, I must admit I didn't like the k/s element so much in this story as the scene in sickbay between Spock and young Geoffrey. It was incredibly intense. Also, I liked the fact that the story is written from Spock's point of view. But then, I must admit I'm a huge Spock fan :-)

Author's Response:

That scene basically popped into my head already written, an' I just transcribed what I saw on the mindscreen... ;-)>  I liked that scene a lot because finally Spock could do something that *he* thought was useful, and being blind didn't matter.

I'm a huge Spock fan too.  He basically kept me from jumping off a bridge, as a cub.  Don't reckon I'd still be here, otherwise.

I thought I had already written a review for this, but I guess I dreamed it. =/

This is one of my favorite K/S stories. I've gone back to it several times. It is absolutely beautiful. The depth you went into in exploring Spock's thoughts after he was blinded is incredible, and I loved reading it. You keep everyone in character, and the tone is fluid and readable. (Not to mention Operation Annihilate! is one of my favorite episodes.) I have much love for this story. <3

How it happened I haven't read it earlier - no idea. But I'm so glad I found it. That's a great first time story, very captivating and very well written, and - which is quite rare actually - captures the characters real well. This Spock is the Spock I know :).

Definitely a keeper. Thank you.

Author's Response:

Thank thee as well!  I am honoured.  Spock is someone very important to me; to hear you say that is a big smile for me!
