Yes, we cannot really assume that our heroes would be immune to aftereffects, can we! Personally I'm hugely grateful to any writer who by writing about it and what it did to both of our boys, helps me exorcise the vivid memory, not of the scene itself, but of the emotional turmoil it left me in. I loved this story with its picturesque beginning, Jim's loving care for his bondmate, his empathic understanding of a problem that is perhaps really beyond human understanding. And then I love it because it tells me that the fear of death can be supplanted by the EXPERIENCE that life is stronger and that love makes us experience that strength.

Author's Response:

Indeed. Thank you again for your eloquent reflections, angelocustode!

You're crazy and I'm out of my mind...

Author's Response:

Yep. That just about sums it up! (I take it you like the song too?) Thanks for commenting!

Beautiful! Glad the aforementioned article of clothing was put to good use!  And that Spock has wonderful memories to replace the bad ones, like Jim in the second story. Very nice!

Author's Response:

Thanks! And I'm glad you noticed the symmetry. ;)
