A quietly poetic winter tale where the harshness of the climate is reflected in the harshness of life for the poor. But the gentleness of affection wins over desperation and love keeps Spock alife. I think Jim knows exactly what it is that Spock has never told him.

I love this story. For the real life mission where it doesn't go according to plan where totally random things happen and communicators get lost. The idea that Jim almost doesn't find Spock. it's a timeless story and you have captured the atmosphere so well the cold can almost be felt and the warmth of the Ship and the live that brought a Spock back yet took the little match girl.

Very nice, poignant and suggestive. I'm a sucker for tenderness in the wake of near disaster, and this is a lovely example.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think poignant is exactly what I was going for.

Oh, sad! I haven't thought of the little match girl in years.
i honestly thought Spock was going to die in this story. I assume the thing he hadn't told Kirk was that he loves him - which would make the end of the story poignant for an altogether different reason.
Good effort, great story, thank you.
I kind of assumed that was what he didn't tell him, too... But I decided not to make it official. Thanks for commenting!
