Honestly, I'm rather sad that this story is so short! There's enough here to really do some digging, especially from McCoy's pov, which isn't one that seems to show up very often in stories from this period. Thanks for a great little read.

a different, interesting take on what happened - with no one really to blame, McCoy trying to do his duty, and paying the price for it... thankfully it all ends well :-)

Oh, Christine. Gotta love her.
Bones guilt was just killing him.
*sigh* that simple feeling! :3

OMG BOMBSHELL!!!  I had completely forgotten about Christine!!!  Wow, you definitely know how to do a great fic with a fantastic plot twist... :)

Author's Response:

Glad you liked the end, theres sort of a hint in TMP Novel that Spock knew Christine had completed her MD. She also seemed to be unfazed by Spock's reaction. Given what we discussed about bonding it seemed to me that Christine's encounter would in Slash terms have been quite intimate.

I must say I really enjoyed reading this in the zine, and I loved it just as much reading it here!  This a great little fic - a really original interpretation, crafted excellently.

Wow, such a beautiful tale; I love how you took that incident and turned it on its head.  I wondered when I read it if McCoy's medical training left him unable to make an intuitive leap regarding Spock's emotional reactions or was he sub-consciously jelous of the relationship between Jim or both, or was he just calling things as he saw them albeit with blinkers on.

It's amazing what miscommunication (verbal and body-language) can do to relationships.  Well done.

Author's Response:

My long fic plan has McCoy as jealous, but in this one he is just completely clueless, he couldnt see further than the mission stresses adn how a human should  decompress

Nice, I like your take on Spock's reasons for leaving. Well written and well reasoned! Great job. I think there should be a part two that involves soem reconciliation. I think you would do a good job of writing Spock's inner conflict when and after he first sets foot back on the Enterprise and faces Jim.

Five stars!

P.S. That idea you had about the Olympics...I finished it! :)
