Considering Jim's allergies, it wouldn't have been so funny if Spock had a bad reaction and also, not everyone does a happy drunk; McCoy would be in very deep doodoo and still should for keeping possible intoxicants a secret. I'm probably giving the impression that I didn't like the story; on the contrary, I loved it! Spock was very sweet and vulnerable and Jim was enderingly supportive. I know you said it was pre-slash, but a midnight kiss (even chaste) would have been the perfect way to ring in the new year. This is going onto my fave list, thank you for sharing!

Glad you liked it! Yeah, McCoy was a bit unprofessional there, but if it makes you feel better I'm sure Kirk (and Spock) wouldn't let him get away with it. :)
