I caught what you were trying to do with it anyhow.

I bet Jim is allergic to pineapple too!

Phew! I didn't think Spock was ever going to be satisfied.

Cute story!

Author's Response:

Jim: "I love Italian. And so do you."

Spock: "Yes."

I simply had to write a story where it turns out that Spock in fact DOES like Italian. :)

Now, I realize that I could have chosen a handful of other cuisine types...personally, I think that Indian cuisine has some of the absolutely best vegetarian food out there. Jen loves herself a good curry. But for a Star Trek-Lady and the Tramp metaphor, only Italian would do.

And I realized after writing this that I should have done 2 things differently:

(1) I should have put the "bad" Vulcan restaurant in Oakland, just because there's this weird San Francisco-Oakland rivalry that I SOMEHOW forgot about. (And I've actually been to San Francisco once, so that's really not a proper thing to forget. Honestly! *rolls eyes at self*)

(2) The Italian restaurant should have been in Sausalito, since that's where Gillian, Jim, and Spock were when she suggested Italian. How did I miss that kind of an homage moment?

We'll blame it on the fact that I felt crappy after getting out of the emergency room today after my pineapple allergy fiasco. I've got no other excuse.

so lady and the tramp.  except spock is far more finicky. Maybe the AristoCats?
(Going to brun in Hades for that bad pun)

Author's Response:

Yeah, I could see Aristocats too. In fact, I do have a silly one-shot idea for Aristocats as well. Just haven't gotten around to writing that one yet.

In the meantime, since we do have that lovely scene from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home..."Do you boys like Italian?" "Yes...no...yes...no...yes, I love Italian, and so do you...yes." This was just begging to be written. :D

It's really quite amazing how well Disney and K/S lend themselves to one another.
