What a lovely, lovely story! I've been working my way through the archives a few stories at a time, and sometimes I find a gem like this. It is so simple and yet so complicated. The description is wonderful, and the whole story is very "logical". I had sometimes thought about how overwhelming the meld would have been for Spock. Now I feel like I know exactly how it was for him. Thanks.

I love how you write. It is so refreshing to read something from a different angle. I really like this line:
I remember being cold. Slipping slowly back into my body, dipping one toe into that shivering shell and willing myself to continue, to lower myself until I was submerged, trapped--comforted--inside my shell again.
Your description of Spock going back into his body makes it so visual. I understood what it meant for him to go back, and how insignificant he must have felt. All the knowledge that was pouring inside of him, it just overwhelmed him, and just as V'ger needed direction, so did Spock.
Love this piece..
Thank you--nice to hear that this feels like a fresh take. This is one of my favorite moments in Trek: a moment of great loss and of great gain for Spock, but one that really only happens in his head. I wanted to see it, so I had to write it. :)
