This is such a moving story to me and it shows how Vulcan's grieve and just how much emotion there really is involved. The fact that he ask Jim to help him in the matter just only proves the depth of his feeling for the him and how Jim just does as he is asked and nothing more despite what it would like just shows you the depth of his feeling for Spock that he can put those emotions aside in order to help Spock how ever he can. Thank You.

Hmmm.  *ponders*  Having read both, I'm hard pressed to say which one I like best... Probably this one, I think.  It's got a very unique feel to it, and a real sense of Spock and his culture being 'alien'.  It was also surprisingly emotionally charged, given that you focussed on description.  And I'm glad to hear that the Vulcans and Romulans have things in common - I love the Romulans (I prefer them to the Vulcan, tbh!) and am always happy to get little snippets of their culture to read about.  This was intriguing - I rather liked it.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked them, and that you got the 'alien' aspect of Spock. I like exporing that difference. Romulands are awesome. :)

This is really beautiful. I especially liked the comparison between Vulcan and Romulan grief rituals.

Author's Response:

Thanks! It was the Romulan tattoos that gave me the idea.
