All done!

This is in answer Skutch's An Alien on Earth challenge, which goes like this:

In the 21st century when Earth people are not yet aware of life on other planets, a Vulcan who was sent to study Earth is forced to land because his ship is damaged. He speaks English because Vulcan has been studying Earth for quite some time now. The ship is damaged beyond repair so he manages to destroy it completely (wouldn't want people finding alien spaceships lying around) before he faints. The Vulcan is found by a 18 year old boy who takes him to his apartment (have fun coming up with how he manages to do that). The Vulcan wakes up soon and the boy wants to take a look at his wounds. He is too weak to resist and he fails to push the boy away before he removes his shirt and sees wounds covered with green blood.

I don't want him to accept the fact that the man is an alien too quickly, after all it really would be quite shocking, so please take your time with the story. Feel free to continue any way you think would be best, perhaps change the beginning of the story too, if you'd like.
I'd like to see a strange sort of friendship first evolve slowly, James trying to teach Spock about his culture, Spock having a very hard time understanding certain concepts, Spock finding himself telling James things he should not be telling a human, protecting him from people who cause him harm, etc.

This will probably be a very long fic, and I'm not sure where it's going or who else I'm going to bring in, but....

A couple of points for the sake of clarity:

1. Spock's full Vulcan, not a half-breed (This is AU; I can do tht).

2. Spock does have emotions. His people are strong and stoic, but not particularly repressed. So he may actually smile once in awhile.

Spock is forced to face what Jim has become to him.

Kirk and Spock were made for one another.  We all know that.  But can they keep tide and time from pulling them apart?

Aliens make Kirk and Spock take one for the team, which completely screws up the way things were supposed to have gone.

Jim works at a strip bar and does tricks on the side. He needs to live. Since he has no other means. His love stays at home and always waits for him to arrive no matter how late. It isn't always what it's cracked up to be...living on the wild side.

Kirk and Spock have to deal with the aftereffects, both mental and emotional, caused by Spock’s abduction.  Originally published in T'hy'la 31 by Kathy Resch (May, 2011)

After retrieving Kirk from the interspatial rift of "The Tholian Web," Spock realizes his oath to Starfleet and his service aboard the Enterprise are in jeopardy because he has denied to himself—and withheld from Kirk—a certain truth about the nature of the Vulcan relationship called "t’hy’la."

I am completely unable to find words that are sufficient to convey my thanks to my fantastic betas AKO and Bedwench.  They both saved me from poor word choices, convoluted sentences, and many other little errors that were simply invisible to me after so many reads.  I must mention that AKO also rescued me from making many errors due to my ignorance of proper military behavior and procedure – and graciously forgave my often ungracious comments about the aforementioned behavior.

One last acknowledgement; the concept of the ‘Outlast’ is not my own; it appeared in the novel Battlestations! by Diane Carey and I apologize in advance if I presented it in any way differently than she (or Paramount or Pocket books)  may have liked.  I do not know Diane, but I have read this book many, many times and my reference to it is intended only as homage.  It’s a wonderful book.

When Kirk's shuttle crashes on an unknown planet, he has to adapt to an alien society. This story features a Kirk/Spock/Sarek triangle in a Vulcan AU.
