This is in response to 'Make This Have a Happy Ending' by vicktblueeyez. The challenge goes like this:
Challenge: Make this sad prompt have a happy ending. (not my prompt, belongs to anon at the kink meme)
Difficulty: Very
Prompt: Kirk/character of anon's choice are in a relationship the whole crew knows about and accepts. Then, Kirk gets top!secret-super!classified orders from Starfleet basically forcing him to seduce a traitor/spy to get information for Starfleet. [OR Kirk's orders force him to gain trust from the traitor/spy, so Kirk is all friendly and the traitor/spy takes advantage of Kirk.] Kirk follows orders/is forced but he's horrified, disgusted, and seriously messed up mentally by the encounter. Instead of comforting him or trying to understand Kirk's side, his significant other dumps him for cheating and the crew blames/is nasty to Kirk, since they aren't privy to Starfleet’s orders. Much angst ensues!
Keyword: Redemption
I've seen many takes on this prompt, all seeming to end sad which is why I haven't read them. Sad as in a broken Kirk, a broken relationship and K/S not getting back together. Mostly because Spock never found out...or he did but it was too late (Kirk ended up with Bones). I find it interesting that so many think a happy ending cannot be done. Kirk didn't believe in no-win scenarios and he didn't settle for the impossible. Instead of thinking in the box, he not only thought outside of the box but reshaped it. Saying something couldn't be done made him want to do whatever it was, even more. Yet, many feel that this prompt can only end in one way, heartbreak and it can only be written if the characters were extremely ooc. I think that is BS. A good author can make one believe in anything. They can take something old, already done and reshape it. The challenge here is to reshape this prompt and for that, you have to have the Kirk mentality and be as equally stubborn.
Stuff I would like to see but not required:
-A groveling and tortured Spock. Tortured as in self loathing. Kirk being all "fuck u, you didn't trust me, abandoned me, don't talk to me" and Spock maybe falling to his knees crying? "I have wronged you t’hy’la in ways you/I cannot imagine. I'm so sorry."
-Super awesome dramatic make up sex somewhere down the line is mandatory. Pretty please?
-Spock has to find out somehow. Kirk left and Spock is clearing the Captain's computer maybe? Kirk thinking his hacker skills is all that leaves the file there thinking it won't be found? Maybe Spock overhears a secret conversation from Starfleet officials? Maybe Spock and crew are on an away mission some angry person is all "I'll never forgive him for using me for information! I thought he loved me but he was only pretending to follow orders!" Spock, "What orders?" Angry person, "Oh you didn't know?"
-Big time angst. Things like K/S seeing each other from across the room. Accidental touching. Something with big time tension.
All is forgiven and it ends HAPPILY aka with Kirk/Spock together.
I hope this lets me work out some demons so I can go back to my happy stories. Here we go....

Vulcan is slowly emerging from its barbaric ways. The reformed Vulcans of Surak and the Vulcans of the old ways have had an uneasy truce for decades, but war has finally broken out. James Kirk and his family were captured and sold to a Vulcan when he was a child, and has grown up on Vulcan. He will fight along side of the reformed Vulcans to keep his freedom and to prevent becoming the slave of a sadistic Vulcan.

This is a companion piece to Silver Lining, an accidental bonding fic, this time written from Spock's POV. This is not a stand-alone story - reading the original (click >>>here) will help this one make sense.
Spock is still in a relationship with Uhura when he experiences his first Pon Farr. At his first officer's request, Kirk diverts the Enterprise to New Vulcan so he can marry T'Pring, who survived Vulcan's destruction. However, when Spock gets there, he finds his wedding doesn't go according to plan. This is Pon Farr with a reboot twist.
Spock accepted the position at the Vulcan Science Academy. There he remained, had a family, and would have lived out the rest of his life in the same way - till Vulcan imploded and steered his life path in another direction.

Spock has always tried to be the perfect Vulcan.

Summary:
Rewatching "Amok Time" and "Journey to Babel" for like 50th time. I've had this idea stuck in my head for awhile.
Sometime after the end of "Amok Time" T'Pau informs Sarek and Amanda that it is unnecessary for them to find someone for Spock because even though T'pring rejected him and he left, Spock has a bondmate.(*cough*Kirk*cough* How could she not know that Kirk faked his death! She has amazing Vulcan powers that make Kirk/Spock happen. That and she saw them roll around in the sand together...mmmm...)
Anyways, During "Journey to Babel" Amanda (and Sarek) try to figure out who Spock's bondmate is.
Bonus- The one person she/they don't suspect is Kirk.
Another Bonus- Kirk tries to drop some hints.
Another Bonus- They eventually find out that Kirk is Spock's bondmate.
Super Awesome Bonus of Awesome - It's McCoy or Chapel that tells Amanda and Sarek. ("He totally smiled at Jim. He's denies, but I saw it damnit."
This was suggested by a reader, De Gnome. The premise is simple but brilliant--what if T'Pring wasn't the one to challenge?

Jim and Spock meet as children. Jim's mother is absent; his caretakers are abusive. Sarek and Amanda rescue their son's friend and raise the boys together. They discover they are t'hy'la and are bonded. Spock goes to Earth to join Starfleet; Jim goes with him.
This will be sort-of Abrams, with a dash of AU mixed in. for example, I'm not killing off Amanda. Enjoy.

Jim's mother was sent to Vulcan to marry an Ambassador and strengthen ties to the planet. But after her untimely death, Jim was left in a culture that abhorred humans.
Spock is being forced to choose a bondmate from the children of the many noble houses on his home planet. And upon meeting a human servant, he is uncertain that a Vulcan could ever possibly be his bondmate.
Sarek is not perfect, merely Vulcan. He is a bad father. He loves his wife so much it may kill him. One son feels too deeply and the Other Dreams. But he watches over them as they rest in his care.

This is in response to Tydomin's The King's Speech challenge:
I'd love to read an AU based (loosely!) on The King's Speech (what a wonderful film...)!
It should be set in a universe where non-reform Vulcan is the ruling planet in an empire, and the Emperor is Sarek. Sybok is part of the family, and has just taken the throne of Vulcan (replacing an aunt or uncle, I guess). However, he is an Edward VIII type figure and will give up the throne to Spock, who is the only other heir.
But, problem - Spock is a reject from the family (due to his human heritage and his speech impediment, which is unheard of among full-blood vulcans) and has lived a lonely and anonymous life on Earth for many years. During that time, Kirk has fallen in love with him from a distance, and they are tentatively beginning a relationship. Kirk, of course, does not know who Spock really is.
Eventually, Sybok abdicates and Spock receives the summons. How will the couple cope with the revelation? Will Spock overcome the obstacles in his path? Will a common human be acceptable as consort to the King? Spock has already been going to speech therapy just so he can say 'I love you' to Kirk, but of course it turns out that he will need the skills for a much farther reaching cause.
I want a story with a happy ending, and preferably using the TOS characters. I don't mind what career Kirk has - you decide. Whether or not Amanda is in it is up to you, but if she is, I would think she would be a servant or something rather than the Empress. Extra points if you can make Doctor McCoy a convincing speech therapist!
