Kirk comes back home early to find a disturbing note from Spock; it is a suicide note.  He manages to stop Spock dying, but can he salvage the life they have built together?  This is the story of a journey not to the most outer reaches of space, but to the depths of deepest despair.

A summit meeting has finally been arranged between the Romulan Empire and the Federation regarding the Narada incident, leaving Spock to deal with the concerns of a possible alliance, his counterpart onboard the Enterprise, and the emergence of new, or perhaps old, feelings.

Spock is an artist who turned down a place in the Vulcan Science academy in favor of becoming an art professor on Earth. Kirk is struggling to make ends meet while trying to save up for art school. When they meet, Spock offers Kirk a way into the school of his dreams.

Falling in love with a man you met at a hospice for the terminally ill isn't the smartest thing in the world to do, but Jim goes ahead and does it anyway.
